Monte Albán is a rich and smooth washed coffee from small family farms in southern Mexico. Flavours of dried apple, almond, apricot, morello cherry and milk chocolate make for a wonderfully easy-drinking cup.
All the farmers are organically certified and work with traditional growing methods, without chemicals. They also produce their own organic compost.
Monte Albán is located near the city of Oaxaca, one of Mexico’s foremost culinary destinations, where the culture has been shaped and refined throughout history.
What makes Monte Albán special?
This coffee is grown by the Zapotec people near the ancient pyramids of Monte Albán – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It carries the heritage of a resilient indigenous population that, despite centuries of Spanish rule, has managed to preserve both its language and its traditions.
Handpicked on small farms
This is truly small-batch coffee. Each coffee cherry is handpicked from a single farm in Sierra Zapoteca Lachiguiri Pajarito, ensuring that only the ripest cherries are selected. Just like with all fruit, fully ripe coffee cherries have a significantly better flavour than unripe ones, resulting in a richer, fuller and more complex cup of coffee.
